Deliver Us The Moon is a story-driven sci-fi action thriller video game set in an apocalyptic future. Under the banner of the WSA, astronauts were sent to the moon to conduct research aimed at colonizing and operating on it for years. However, one fateful night, all communications with the lunar space station suddenly ceased and the energy source disappeared. Now you play as Earth's last astronaut with a single robot companion, assigned on this critical and dangerous mission to investigate what happened.

Deliver Us The Moon is highly centered on its story and will constantly urge you to explore the narrative of the mystery that has occurred on the moon. Questions like how did the people living in the lunar colony disappear all of a sudden and where have they gone will constantly plague you as you traverse the vast and quiet space station and the various sites surrounding it. There are also lots of central themes and issues that this game aims to discuss with you—the very real danger of climate change and the moral choices one has to make when faced with world-changing consequences. Deliver Us The Moon doesn’t just let you explore the vastness of space—it lets you explore the human drama that comes in such an unforgiving and hostile environment. However, it is because of this that you shouldn’t let the visuals and game design fool you. This game is quite linear, as it urges you to stay on the path of the story and not wander off—which makes it a short game to finish.

Going Beyond

In Deliver Us The Moon, you’re an astronaut tasked with investigating the lunar colony. Part of your job is to play detective and puzzle-solver while you’re exploring all the areas you can access. However, Deliver Us The Moon also hits a particular nail in the storyline: because everyone on the moon is gone, that means that you’re on your own. You do get a robot assistant named ASE who can help you complete tasks, but for the most part, you are completely alone in the deserted space station. At least you have various handy tools at your disposal—from new-age spacesuits and cutting lasers to rockets and robot arms, your investigation won’t be impossible to complete. You also get to switch from first-person to third-person perspective as you play, which is essential in order to overcome the different obstacles you’ll find blocking your way. There is danger in every corner of the lunar colony, even if you’re completely alone just hunting for clues—the threat of losing oxygen alone is always a worry at the back of your mind. You have to use everything you’ve got in order to stay alive and continue the mission.

Worth the Wait

All in all, Deliver Us The Moon truly delivers a sci-fi drama thriller that can capture the wonder of space and the reality of Earth’s mounting troubles. In terms of narrative and visuals, it’s a solid hit—even after the first version called “Fortuna” that gave an aggravating ending. However, most would agree that this game is a bit short and far too linear to fully deliver the sci-fi experience. Despite these shortcomings, though, this is one journey that’s worth the trek to space.
